When the world falls asleep, A short poem
When the world falls asleep
By: Ryan Beodeker
What happens to the world when we fall asleep?
When we reach the sandy shores of our subconscious,
the cool water of dreams lapping at our feet.
A rowboat of wood with two oars and enough room.
What happens to the world when we shove off from the shores of conscious thought?
Where new colors are grown,
flight a blink away,
fantasy now normality.
Where do we venture aboard that ship?
Is this Odysseus's journey?
Are we doomed to fight for a decade,
then travel this sea for a decade more?
Are we full speed ahead
much like the titanic we are doomed to be dead
iceberg straight ahead?
What happens to us if we die in our dreams?
If we die in our dreams
do we ever wake up?
To fade out from our brains,
erased from existence.
What happens to the world when we fall asleep?
For all we know anything could be,
and in that uncertainty,
comes our dream true fantasy.
Hidden inside of our dreams.
