As Summer Fades Away
By: Ryan Beodeker
As summer fades away,
my thoughts go back to May.
How each and every single day,
in the sun we'd all laugh and play.
Happy, jolly even in skies of gray,
for every day in the month of May.
I think on the days we spent in June.
A summer romance to be coming soon.
The wishing and wanting for hours past noon.
On all the rehearsals that vanished so soon,
for every day in the month of June.
The fair weather days we spent in July.
I wonder how did the time fly,
that fast, and now past, without goodbye.
Shows, and blows exchanged eye to eye.
Those crazy days we all had in July.
Then the most present month of August.
Time for all of us to adjust,
to a life of bread-crusts,
in a land full of musts,
where do we all wander in August?
These words penned down about days now past.
Are for friends and follies for days that can't last.
A seldom hope for the future from the past.
That the days that are done don't disappear fast.
That the memories don't fade away into glass.
That we all cherish the thoughts of the past.
As summer slowly fades away,
I hope the memories always stay.
Here in my mind not far away.
Slowly as summer fades to grey.
