Silently Walking Alone in the Dark, A short poem

Silently Walking Alone in the Dark
By: Ryan Beodeker

I will not go silently into the night.
To wander on cue to the beat of a drum.
Nor shall I bow down
slave never I.
Pains and anguish of endless suffering
ended only by sheer kindness of others.
Love staying the fiery blaze of hate.
How is it you came to this place?
So far now, the path we started.
Trouble seeming to force a choice
that unwanted choice.

How hate moves the cosmos,
that power of unending ferocity.
Give up the normalcy?
In truth that which saves us alone.
Not for a thousand years or a thousand more.
Price set too steep for market,
goods to be sold rotten charred flesh
caked with decay and bitterness.

Once again to self’s devices.
The danger in being left alone in mind for too long.
The shadows everywhere now enclosing
unbeaten by little love.
Darkness, darkness, darkness.
God, heaven help me.
Not free, not fair,
nothing but a hearts desire.
To not walk silently alone in the dark.
