Doe-eyed Man
By: Ryan Beodeker
Doe-eyed man what anguish has brought you here?
That now you seek refuge behind my closed doors.
A great stain of agony could perhaps have shown you near,
where I hide in such depths so often ignored.
The taste of bitterness brooding, and hatred so vile,
that it plagues the air with trepidation of names.
All the unsaid longings, hidden in the heart's own denial,
come forth out now to bare our shames.
No longer can we revel unabated.
Now being it that we are so short for this world.
Years shall pass before it seems we are fated,
to see each other again, at last unfurled.
So does it now seem, that with each passing glance,
the moments we have together fade away with the dance.
